JOY LENZ AND HER FIREPIT BAND
Best known for her body of work as an actor, Bethany Joy Lenz (One Tree Hill, Dexter, Agents of Shield, and currently American Gothic on CBS) is now touring with her Firepit Band. Their sound is an organic blend of soul, bluegrass and folk. Joy has hit No. 1 on charts in Australia & France, and had several singles in the top 10 on charts in the US and UK. Her music is available on various television and film soundtracks, including the upcoming film, festival darling, "PO" where she was handpicked by Burt Bacharach & the film's director to sing the theme song for opening credits. Lenz has also worked closely with Carole King, Burt Bacharach, Paul Williams, Michelle Branch, Gavin DeGraw and more. She has a childhood history in musical theatre and is a veritable encyclopedia of showtunes and jazz. Her biggest musical influences are Tom Waits, Billy Joel, Patty Griffin and Carole King. The Firepit Band music is a reflection of these broken-down, dramatic and fun sounds.
Donald Crowder (Doo) is best known as the founder and leader of Denver avant folk-orchestra "pee-pee". After pee-pee's freeze in 2011 he quit the music biz to be a high school gym teacher. On Christmas Day 2013, Danny Shyman AKA (WHITERO$E) persuaded him to move to LA and give the music biz another shot. They are currently working on his solo album and in the meantime Crowder plays bass and sings with Joy's Firepit Band. Several of Crowder's songs are featured in the Firepit setlist on any given night.
Danny Shyman started playing folk and bluegrass guitar in various bands in Denver during the mid 2000's. He currently studies traditional West African music and dance and teaches West African drumming at UCLA. Shyman also works as a producer for artists like Sylnan LaCue, Nocando and Sugg Savage, and releases his own music under the name WHITERO$E.
Ben Zelico At ten years old, Benjamin Zelico was at the beach with his family, listening to the radio when Phil Collins came on and his uncle exclaimed, “Phil Collins is cool. All drummers are pretty cool.” This is inspired him to learn the drums--to win the ‘cool’ badge from his uncle. A year later, after months of practicing on a snare drum, he got his first drumset and began learning songs by progressive rock bands like Rush and Dream Theater. More recently, he has toured with Katharine McPhee and as the opening act for Stone Temple Pilots. He now plays in various bands in Los Angeles and has become interested in writing and producing both scores and pop music, releasing his own songs under the pseudonym Roman Blüm.
